The deal, written the way we would say it out loud
You are buying twelve months of access to a recorded course. It is education, not financial advice, and you can have your money back within fourteen days without giving a reason.
Who you are dealing with
SmartMoney Basics, 79 Fore St, Topsham, Exeter EX3 0HQ, United Kingdom. Email [email protected], phone +44 1392 875039. There is no head office and no call centre; the phone rings in the room where the courses are recorded.
What a course is
A set of recorded video lessons with printable worksheets, full transcripts, worked examples, and on one course a spreadsheet template. Courses are sold one at a time. There is no bundle, no tier above the one you bought, and nothing gets unlocked later if you spend more.
What a course is not
It is not financial advice and it is not a personal recommendation. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and we do not arrange, advise on or sell financial products. Nothing in a lesson is a suggestion to open, close, keep or move any particular account. Every decision you take afterwards is yours, and so is the result.
Ordering and payment
The form on the site sends an order request, not a payment. We reply with an invoice, and the contract exists once we confirm the order. We can decline an order, and occasionally do, usually because a course is being re-recorded. Prices are in pounds sterling, include VAT, and are whatever the page said at the moment you ordered. Payment is by bank transfer, by card over the phone, or by invoice to an employer.
Access
Access opens once payment clears, normally the same working day, and runs for twelve months from that moment. The whole course appears at once rather than weekly. A login is for one person. Sharing it with a household is fine by us; sharing it with a workplace is not, and there is a separate arrangement for that if you ask.
Refunds
Fourteen days from the day access opens, no reason required, even if you have watched every lesson. Email the order reference and the money returns to the account it came from, usually within five working days. This sits on top of the statutory rights you have as a consumer, which nothing here reduces.
What you can and cannot do with the material
- Print the worksheets, fill them in, keep them, use them on your own money forever.
- Quote a sentence to a friend, or show a lesson to the person you share a bank account with.
- Do not upload the videos anywhere, resell them, or hand the login around.
- Do not run a paid class off the back of the material without asking us first.
If a lesson turns out to be wrong
Rates and allowances move, and occasionally we get something plainly wrong. Where a figure matters, the lesson carries the date it was recorded. If something shifts enough to change the answer, we re-record inside thirty days or put a dated correction over the video. If a mistake of ours materially misled you, tell us and you get a refund whether or not the fourteen days have passed.
Where our responsibility stops
We are responsible for delivering the course you paid for and for it being a reasonable piece of teaching. We are not responsible for the financial outcome of anything you do afterwards. Where liability can be limited by law, it is limited to the amount you paid for the course in question. Nothing here excludes liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else the law does not allow us to exclude.
Interruptions
Websites go down. If access is lost for more than a couple of days, we add the lost time back onto your twelve months without being asked.
Complaints and law
Write to us first, because most of it gets sorted in one email. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts there deal with anything that cannot be sorted between us.
Anything on this page you find unclear, write to [email protected] and we'll rewrite the paragraph rather than explain it in an email.
